Leeds is a prosperous, commercial, industrial and manufacturing city , and is also the cultural and sporting centre for much of the region.. Leeds is a 'green' city , proud of its parks and open spaces, including Woodhouse Moor, close to the University and Roundhay Park and the Temple Newsam estate near the City Centre. Glasgow is the largest city of Scotland, almost 1 million of people live there. The city was founded in the 6th century, for a long time it was not more than a cluster of cottages built on the river Clyde. Then the city began to develop, there was built the second university in Scotland, and it made Glasgow an important educational centre. Belfast is the capital of Northern Ireland, it is situated at the head of the wide Belfast Lough, the inlet of the North Channel on the eastern coast of the island, where the river Lagan reaches the shore. The favourable geographical location of the city helped the city to develop. Dublin is the capital and largest city of Ireland. The population of the Greater Dublin Area, as of 2011, was 1,801,040 persons. Founded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland's principal city following the Norman invasion. Cork is a city in Ireland, located in the South-West Region, in the province of Munster. The capital of Australia, Canberra, is a young and comparatively small city. It was founded in the 20th century and now has a population of about 260 000 people. It was the capital of the country till 1927 and now is the centre of Australian business world. It is also one of the largest ports in the country. Melbourne is a beautiful city with numerous skyscrapers, straight boulevards and large parks and gardens. One of Melbourne’s places of interest is the house of Captain Cook, the famous British navigator. Sydney is Australia’s largest and oldest city. It was the first British settlement. Sydney has the oldest in the country botanical gardens and the Zoo. One of the main places of interest of the city is the famous bridge over the Bay of Port Jackson.
