Current Awareness in Biological Mass
Spectrometry- Introduction
BMS has initiated this ‘Current Awareness’ section to
its monthly issues which is intended to provide an
up-to-date bibliography of published material of interest to readers. Reviews, original research articles, communications, letters to the editors, symposia
proceedings, as well as other relevant published
material will be included.
The search strategy of published material will involve
both a computer search and a manual inspection of
selected journals. The computer search will use a
number of key words (e.g., biological, biochemical, peptides, carbohydrates, pharmacology, etc.) combined with
mass spec* (where * is a wild-card character) to generate a list of potential papers of interest. The manual
search of selected journals is done independently to
identify papers that are inevitably missed by a
computer/key word search process. In addition, the
manual search will identify publications which may
review areas of interest to readers, but which do not
necessarily involve mass spectrometry as a specific
topic. The list of selected journals is given below.
The bibliography is divided into eleven topics, which
should represent logical sub-divisions to most readers.
For those papers dealing with two or more topics, the
reference will be listed according to its major aim or
purpose. However, it is appreciated that this categorization can be a matter of individual interpretation
in some cases.
Any comments and suggestions concerning this
service would be appreciated by the editors and will be
considered for implementation if appropriate.
