Calcium and Strontium Thiosulfate, CaS2O3�2O and SrS2O3�2O. ? The
structures of the title compounds are determined by single crystal XRD. SrS2O3�2O
crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c with Z = 8 and CaS2O3�2O is triclinic, space group P1, Z = 2. The structure of the latter contains chains of alternating S2O3
and Ca(OH2)6O2 groups sharing common O atoms while SrS2O3�2O consists of layers of alternating S2O3 and Sr(OH2)4O5 groups connected via common O atoms and
O?O edges. In contrast to the Ca compound, the strontium thiosulfate pentahydrate
contains water molecules outside the coordination sphere of the alkaline earth atom
