2005 Optical properties D 6000 Preparation and Optical Absorption of Zircons, Co-Doped with Vanadium and Rare Earth Elements. — Single crystals of ZrSiO4:Pr,V and ZrSiO4:Tb,V are pre02- 011 pared by heating mixtures of activated oxides ZrO2 and SiO2 together with V2O5 and Pr6O11 or Tb4O7, resp., using Li2O·7MoO3 as a flux (1240 °C, 10 h). The additional rare earth ions incorporated change the colors of the samples from blue (ZrSiO4:V) to pink and to yellow-green for the (Pr/V) and (Tb/V) co-doped zircons, respectively.
