2005 Nucleic acids U 0700 Covalent Analogues of DNA Base-Pairs and Triplets. Part 7. Synthesis and CytoActivity of Bis(purin-6-yl)acetylene and -diacetylene Nucleosides. — 14- 205 static Bis(purinyl)acetylene and -diacetylene nucleosides such as (I), (II), and (III) are prepared by using the Sonogashira cross-coupling technique or by oxidative alkyne-dimerization reactions. The covalent dinucleosides (Ib), (Ic), and (III) as well as the mononucleoside (Ia) and base-pair (II) are tested for their inhibition of cell growth of four cell cultures. Surprisingly, in general the more hydrophobic acyl-protected compounds are more active than the hydrophilic free nucleosides. — (NAUS, P.; VOTRUBA, I.; HOCEK*, M.; Collect. Czech. Chem.
