The traction of a rail vehicle during both starting and braking is
improved by magnetic action on the rails. Coils are mounted on the
axles of the vehicle and are energised electrically to generate a
magnetic flux traversing the axle, the rails, and the other axle of
the bogie, creating magnetic attraction between the wheels and the
rails, and inducing eddy currents in the rails which help dissipate
the kinetic energy of the vehicle during braking. The coils are
mounted on the bogie so they enclose the axis of the axle, with
sufficient clearance provided to accommodate the movement of the axle
in the suspension of the bogie.

La presente invention concerne une amelioration. des disposi -tifs de
freinage des vehicules de chemins de iron.
Les systemes de freinage s'exercant sur la rotation de l'es- -sieu
sont limites en intensite par l'adherence de la roue sur le rail.
Cette adherence est proportionnelle au poids de essieu sur le rail.
Un effort de freinage trop grand de la rotation de l'essieu entraine
I'enrayage, un glissement et la formation de meplats a la surface de
roulement du bandage.
Afin d'augmenter l'adherence des essieux, tant pour eviter 1'enrayage
lors de leur freinage, que leur patinage lors du d6- -marrage des
essieux moteurs, creer un circuit magnetique qui fe -ra coller le
bandage au rail.
Le champ magnetique sera engendre par une bobine calee sur le corps de
l'essieu; les deplacements relatifs des essieux de che -mins de iron
etant de faible amplitude la bobine pourra etre fi -xse au chassis du
bogie centree sur le corps d'essieu avec un jeu correspondant au
debattement de la suspension. Les essieux consecutifs seront excites
pour que leurs polarites s'ajoutent.
Le circuit magnetique ferme sera constitue par la succession suivante:
corps d'essieu du premier essieu - roue et bandage droits du premier
essieu - rail droit entre le premier et le deuxieme es essieu - corps
d'essieu du deuxieme essieu - roue et bandage gau -ches du deuxieme
essieu - rail gauche entre le deuxieme et le premier essieu - bandage
et roue gauches du premier essieu0
Il y a quatre entrefers: les contacts entre bandages et rails des
essieux.
L'adherence proportionnelle au poids du vehicules, sera ici augmentee
de la force d'attraction entre bandages et rails due au champ
magnetique. Il y aura donc possibilite d'augmexter l'effort de
freinage sur la rotation de 1'essieu sans provoquer d'enrayage et par
consequent d'ameliorer le dispositif de frei -nage utilise.
Subsidiairement, le deplacement d'un champ magnetique dans le rail y
engendrera des courants de Foucault.
A l'energie dissipee au freinage sur l'essieu s'ajoutera une energie
dissipee dans le rail0

REVENDICATIONS
1. @ispositif d'adherence sur le rail dos roucs les vehicules.de
chemin de iron, tant au demarrage (antipatinage ) qu'au freinage (
antienrayage ), caracterise en ce qu'il comporte dos bobines calees
sur le corps d'essieu,pour etablir un circuit magne tic ferme par le
dit essieu, los deux files de rail, et l'autre essieu du bogie et
creer ainsi une attraction magnetique entre les tables de roulement de
la roue et du rail
2. Dispositif selon la revendication 1 caracterise en ce qu'il
comporte des bobines electriques fixees au chassis du bogie, et
qu'elles [email protected] l'axe du corps d'essieu avec un jeu permettant le
debattement de la suspension du bogie.

7. The sort icon allows you to sort the listed categories based on
the number of instances found.
Click to toggle between ascending and descending.

they are of use to you.
13. Items selected from the menu on the left will be highlighted in
the main publication section (here in the middle of the screen).
Click them for further information and insights (including
chemical structure diagrams where available).
