Criticisms • Environmental Record • Labour Practices Environmental Record • Climate Change and clean energy • Greenpeace released a report April 21, 2011 highlighting that data centers used 2% of global electricity. • April 17, 2012 Apple released a statement committing to ending the use of coal and shifting to 100% clean energy. • In 2013 Apple announced it was using 100% renewable energy for data centers, overall 75% renewable. Labour Practices • 2006 reports of working conditions at factories in China, Foxconn and Inventec, producers of the iPod. • 200,000 workers that lived and worked in the factory. • Workers: 60 hr weeks, $100 per month.
